Information we collect

For tournament registration, we collect player and event information such as name, email address, US Chess ID, Published Rating, membership status, section assignment, requested byes, registration status, payment status, and related timestamps. US Chess membership and rating information is retrieved from US Chess using the member number entered during registration. When you contact us or sign up for announcements, we collect the information you provide, including your email address.

How we use information

We use this information to verify US Chess eligibility, process and administer tournament registrations, organize sections and pairings, handle payment and refund records, respond to questions, send requested communications, and operate, secure, troubleshoot, and understand use of the site.

Payments

Online payment processing is provided by Square through Square's hosted checkout. Pawnstormers keeps transaction, order, status, and amount information needed for registration and accounting. Pawnstormers does not intentionally collect or store full payment-card numbers or security codes.

Email communications

Operational messages may be sent about registrations or inquiries. If you join the Be the first to know list, your email address is sent to MailerLite and added to our marketing list for tournament announcements and updates. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe option.

Contact messages

Our contact form collects name, email address, category, subject, and message. Messages are delivered through Resend to help us respond; the form does not create a separate Supabase contact-message record.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate site use, including page views, referrers, device and browser information, and limited custom events such as registration-flow steps, email signup, and clicks to the Pawnstormers apparel shop. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, US Chess IDs, payment identifiers, or other direct personal information in those custom events. Vercel Web Analytics is designed to provide aggregate reporting without third-party cookies or persistent cross-site tracking.

Service providers

Service providers process information as needed to provide their services, including Supabase for application data and authentication, Square for payments, Vercel for hosting and analytics, MailerLite for marketing email, Resend for email delivery, and US Chess for membership and rating lookup. The separate shop at shop.pawnstormers.com has its own applicable storefront and provider privacy practices; Pawnstormers' main-site application does not receive its customer or order details.

Retention and security

We retain registration, payment, and related operational records for as long as reasonably needed to administer events, maintain accounting records, resolve issues, and meet operational obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

Children's information

Pawnstormers events may include scholastic players. Information about a minor may be submitted by a parent, guardian, school representative, or another authorized person for tournament participation. We use that information to administer the event and related communications.

Your choices

You may unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in those messages. You may also contact Pawnstormers to ask about updating or correcting information connected with a tournament registration.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as our practices change. The current version will be posted here. For privacy questions or requests, please contact Pawnstormers.
